POW*MIA Remembrance service at letterkenny chapel
The United Churches of the Chambersburg Area and the Historic Letterkenny Chapel and Franklin County Veterans and 9/11 Memorial Park Committee, will conduct a POW*MIA Remembrance Service, at the Historic Letterkenny Chapel. The Chapel Service will be held on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., on Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA.
The guest speaker will be Chaplain (COL) Bruce Farrell (ARNG, Retired), who has served as a U. S. Army Chaplain at all levels of the Army National Guard for more than 22 years, before retiring. Chaplain Farrell currently serves as Pastor, United Church of Christ Parish, Womelsdorf, PA.
Special music will be presented by the Falling Spring Brass Choir, under the direction of David Wenerd, and the Community Chorus, under the direction of Marcel Coates.
During the Chapel Service, a special POW*MIA presentation will be offered by the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599.
Immediately following the Chapel Service, an outdoor ribbon cutting ceremony for the final phase of the “Military Walk of History” will be conducted by the Franklin County Commissioners. The Ceremony will conclude with a rifle salute by the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard, and the playing of Taps by the Falling Spring Brass Choir, as final tribute to the nation’s Veterans.
